- going to a fair.
- Christmas.
- Halloween.
Things have come a long way since I was kid, even on Halloween. I can remember when my Dad decorating the house for Halloween meant replacing the front porch light with an coloured spotlight bulb, orange or green as I recall. The house was considered pretty high tech because he put a portable stereo in the front window playing a "Sounds of Halloween" tape.
This year Halloween will be a little different for my wife and I. Since we are on the first floor and face the street we can decorate our front porch. My wife is all excited that our building allows inflatable decorations for some reason.
This year will also mark the first year that we will have trick or treaters coming to the door. I am a little disappointed that it won't be our front door, they will head to the main door of the building. We have a candy donation program (which reminds me, I have 2 boxes of chips to get out of the truck when my wife gets home from work) and volunteers will main the main lobby to hand out treats.
As the majority of residents in our building are seniors, I understand a lot of them come down and stake out a spot in the lobby to check out all the costumes. Since both my wife and I will be home that night, I think we too may wander over to have a look. Although being right beside the main door means we will have a parade of costumed characters, right out the window, all evening long.
