My wife and I were up and out early this morning to vote. We hoped, and were right, that the polling station would not be that busy first thing in the morning. So we have done our civic duty.
It occurred to me, on the walk home, that I have been doing my civic duty for 32 years now. In that time, I have voted in every municipal, provincial, and federal election that I have been eligible for. It is something that I have done with great pride and sense of responsibility.
I know that there will be those that will say their one vote does not matter. They will choose not to cast a ballot at all, and that is their choice. However, I will end with a piece of advice I heard when I use to work in a union. If you don't vote, don't bitch.
