Farewell To Costco

I had originally planned to write and post this yesterday.  However, after having internet outages and having to reboot my router several times, I put it off until today.  But my concerns with Telus can wait for another day.

My wife and I have decided to let our Costco membership lapse. We realized the other day that it has easily been six months since we step foot in the building.  So later this month when it comes due, we will not go forward again.

Two years ago, when we first joined Costco, we went all out and purchased the Executive Gold Star Membership because you got cash back on your purchases. Last year, we renewed at the Gold Star Membership because we did not use the Executive membership enough to justify the higher price. This year, the honeymoon is over, and we do not even look forward to going to the store.

There were some really good deals at Costco, we purchased our food saver, our portable wagon, and my computer there.  However, we would run in to pick up a few things and come out with much, much, more.  They would usually get us with a free sample or two that we would end up buying.

I want to end this post with a stand up routine I once saw a comedian do on television about Costco.

Oh my God, I joined a store.  I paid them to let me shop there.  When it was time to check out they didn't have any bags, just produce boxes.  I joined a store and paid to shop there and take their garbage out for them.
