Recipe Tinkering

My wife has decided it is time to defrost our stand alone freezer.  This means I have to use up as much as I can to fit everything in our fridge freezer.  So for tonight's dinner, I am doing a little tinkering.

I am making my slow cooker beef fajitas tonight with a twist.  While sorting through the freezer, I found a package of stewing beef.  I will bet it has been there since last fall or winter when we were wanting hardy soups and stews.

So I am using it to cook the fajitas for dinner tonight.  Although technically I am not making fajitas at all.  I will prepare the "filling" in the slow cooker as I normally would, but I planned on serving it over rice not in tortillas.  A twist on a supper time favorite.

I am a little excited as I get ready to start.  You see, I am very much a by the book kind of guy, so tinkering with the recipe is a new thing for me.  So I guess I am growing in the kitchen.
