On Sunday, my wife kicked me out of the house. She told me to take the dog and just go. She didn't want us in the way while she worked on renovating our main bathroom.
While I would have loved to stay and help her, there are two reasons I took the dog and got out of her way. First, she has a vision of what our condo should look like and she wants to do most of the work herself. Secondly, but just as important, there isn't enough room for the two of us to work in the bathroom without being in each other's way.
The dog and I returned from our adventure to find the bathroom looking much improved. Most of the painting is done and the cupboard door's reinstalled. Once she is finished, likely this weekend, we will have a bathroom worthy of her vision.
I have to admit I have not been motivated to keep up with my chores since we moved. The fact that many of the rooms were mid-renovation was a big part of that. Seeing the bathroom start to transform into what it will be has renewed my sense of pride and a desire to maintain it.
