"Pet" Peeve

I am not one to complain, and it is not the purpose of this post, more an opportunity to just rant and rave for a moment or two.  The thing in this world that annoys me most is people who do not follow the rules.  Now, I am not claiming to be perfect and have broken a rule or two myself, but for the most part I tow the line.

We live in a pet friendly building, meaning you are allowed to have dogs.  Every year, when we renew our lease, we also resign our pet owner's code of conduct.  The basic dos and don'ts for having a dog in the building.

It is very simple.  Keep your dog on a leash in public areas, pick up after your dog outside.  The essentials for keeping everyone happy, both human and dog alike.

Now comes the ranting and raving part of our program.  It is starting to get cold and dark, as it is often want to do, now that we are into early November.  So somebody, who does not want to have to go outside themselves, lets their dog out the back door to pee on the back step, and we all know there is nothing more attractive than a big patch of yellow ice on one's back step.

The other night, the dog and I were waiting for the elevator after coming back from our evening stroll.  A gentleman got off with his dog, which is not a big deal, we all have the right to live here.  However, his dog was not on a leash so not only was he breaking the pet owner's code of conduct, he was heading outside to break the city's leash bi-law as well.
