After this weekend I am very thankful for my Xbox and Roku stick. Both Saturday and Sunday night, my wife volunteered with a friend of hers at a charity casino. Their shift was 6:00 PM until 3:00 AM.
Both nights I waited up for her (I was rewarded with McDonald's this morning for doing so). Now compared to when I was a kid we have many more television options today. However, I do not think that late-night television (around 1:00 or so) has much more to offer than it did way back then.
