Monday, Monday

Black Friday, the fourth Friday of November, has always been the beginning of the Christmas season for as long as I can remember.  It was on this weekend that, as a kid and still now as an adult, my family would start to put up the Christmas decorations.  It was not to much later in life that I realized it is not the unofficial start of the Christmas season, but rather the Christmas shopping season.

In 2005, the last weekend of November became a long weekend of shopping with the introduction of Cyber Monday.  It was created by retailers to encourage people to shop online.  Cyber Monday has become the online equivalent to Black Friday and offers a way for smaller retail websites to compete with larger chains.

I will admit that when it comes to online shopping I have been a slow convert.  Although over the past year or so I have become a regular online (and delivered) grocery shopper.  However, that being said, I have always preferred to see or touch anything that I am going to buy.
