Last night wrapped up my first cooking class at NAIT. I think, sadly, that it is also going to be my last class at NAIT. It is time to transfer to the city's public continuing education program.
I have decided to make the switch because of my wife. She was looking up a course that we both had wanted to take last year, "Ukrainian Christmas Eve - an occasion full of song, festive tradition and (of course!) a tremendous array of delicious food!" So I started looking at other courses that were being offered.
The reason that I was taking the kitchen skills program was that I would receive a certificate once I finished the five courses. Then it dawned on me, all that certificate meant was that I had a good attendance record. After all, I was not being graded on anything I did in class.
There are two reasons that I decided to switch over to the public continuing education cooking program. First, I was going to learn to plan, purchase and prepare food that is fast, easy and good for you and get creative in the kitchen to make tasty, nutritious, easy-to-pack lunches for the whole week. Secondly, I can take three public con ed classes for the same price as one NAIT course.
