The Other Shoe

In our neck of the woods, winter is expected to arrive by Halloween night.  Sometimes, it even shows up uninvited to Thanksgiving dinner.  Sure, we have already had two snowfalls this year, but they both melted away within a day.

My wife and I, as a rule, usually do not leave the city after Halloween.  There is too much of a risk of getting caught in a surprise blizzard or whiteout.  However this year, the weather was so nice, we put the dog in the car and went on a little adventure on Remembrance day.

My Father is still trying to go fishing at least once a week.  As he says, got to get out there when you can, it may be the last nice day.  So, while we have been enjoying, and taking advantage, of the unseasonably warm weather, my wife and I have been waiting for the other shoe to drop.

This weekend, the other shoe, along with the temperature, finally dropped.  It is cold, damp, and gray outside.  Looks like it is time to settle in and wait for Spring.
