Hoarder in Training

I was fishing around for a topic this morning when I came upon this picture.  Sadly I have to admit that yes I do have a plastic bag full of plastic bags in my house.  Oh, I have rationalised it with, well I can use them as garbage bags in the car, or for when we go camping.  Although, I have never used them for either.  No, they just sit on the shelf in our storage closet.

My wife stated that when we bought a new dresser, her old one was heading down to the trash bin. However, I have convinced her it would be far better in the storage closet as storage for placemats and dish towels.  There is nothing special about the dresser, it is not fancy nor is it an antique.  But I think it still has some use left in it and it would look so sad and pitiful sitting outside beside the trash bins.

When the time does come and, I can no longer think of reasons not, to throw something out.  I have to remind myself of the 2002 Ikea commercial "Death of a lamp".  The sad tale of an old lamp that is cast aside.  As we watch this poor old lamp sitting on the curb in the rain, the spokesman reminds us...its a lamp, it is not alive, it does not have feelings.  Just like all those bags I have stuffed on a shelf in my storage closet.
