Wrong Day

Saturday night my wife and I decided that Sunday would be a nice day for a picnic.  So Sunday morning we packed up our lawn chairs, cooler, and the dog in the car and off we went.  Oops...bad idea.

We got to Wabamun Lake Provincial Park a little after 11:00.  Much to our dismay, most of the parking lot was already full and it was getting fuller.  It is a good thing we planned ahead and brought our collapsible wagon, because it was a long walk from where we parked into the day use area.

We headed up the hill, to the secluded, tree-lined area away from the beach with plans of setting up for the afternoon.  Wrong..all the tables up there were already taken.  So it was back down the hill to find all the picnic tables everywhere were already in use.

So we found a shady spot under a couple of trees and set up our space.  We used the cooler as a table as we ate our lunch, and settled in.  The dog was spread out on the grass watching all the comings and goings as we were sitting by the cut through to the parking lot.

It was not long before the park staff opened up the half finished parking lot beside us for overflow traffic.  It was not to long before all the spaces in the impromptu parking lot were filled as well.  But they just kept coming.

We have agreed the next time we get the urge to throw the dog in the car and head out to the park for a picnic...we will wait until Monday.
