We are down to the last couple of boxes cluttering up our apartment. One is full of pictures waiting to be hung (my wife just has not figured out where yet). The other is a box to be donated to the Salvation Army or the like.
As part of our unpacking process, we pulled the bins of Christmas crap...I mean decorations out of our storage locker. The last few years, I have not really felt all that enthusiastic when it came to decorating for Christmas. Perhaps it was the result of living in a dark, cave-like, apartment.
Perhaps it is the new beginning of moving. Perhaps it is that I now live in a sun drenched apartment. But my Christmas spirits seem to be on the rise.
We have lights up around our patio window and our tree is set up in front of it. I am actually looking forward to going out later tonight and see if you can see them from the street. My bet will be yes to the lights but no to the tree.
We have a small (apartment) sized tree. It seemed appropriate in our old apartment. Now, not so much, I think we will need an upgrade for next year.
Last night was the fiftieth anniversary of "A Charlie Brown Christmas". This too seems to have boosted my Christmas spirit. I suppose that, technically, I could have watched it every year of my life. Although now I can watch it whenever I want now, I have the DVD.
Christmas time is here; happiness and cheer. Fun for all that children call their favorite time of the year. A very warm and happy thought.
I think Alvin & the Chipmunks sum it up even better, but I have "aged up" the lyrics a little. Christmas, Christmas time is near. Time for toys and time for beer.
