My wife and I have spent the last three days camping. All in all it was an enjoyable time and we are already planning our next trip. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax.
Well a chance for my wife to relax at least. I was expected to build and maintain campfires, prepare 3 squares a day, and clean up afterwards. Even when camping, a house hubby's work is never done.
I prepared the usual camping fare. Hot dogs, roasted over the fire, are a requirement when camping with my wife. There was the big can of Chef Boyardee pasta, which is a throwback to the days of camping when I was a kid, as well. But I also tried out a few new things like preparing my first ever hot camp breakfast (unless you count instant oatmeal as a hot breakfast that is).
But now the table has been cleaned off, the camp kitchen stand is folded back into its case, and the dining shelter has been taken down. As I said in the opening we are already planning our next trip, for me that includes expanding and improving the menu. But for now, the camp kitchen is closed.
