Unprepared At "Prepared In The Park"

This past Saturday, I assisted my wife at the annual "Prepared in the Park" Event.  As far as I can tell, it gives the various city departments the opportunity to show off all their toys.  There were helicopters, motorbikes, mobile command units, mobile trauma units, boats, seadoos, and so much more.

Unfortunately, my wife's department is lacking in cool toys.  In fact the folding table and chairs we used, for the display, we brought from home.  She did manage to "borrow" part of the search and rescue gear to set up her display up in front of, so at least people stopped by.

Based on our experiences from the previous year, we felt we were prepared for this year.  We had extra jackets, a blanket, and had scoped out the free coffee station shortly after arriving.  We soon discovered we were unprepared for "Prepared in the Park".

The jackets lay cast aside, the blanket lay folded neatly under the table, and a cold water station would have been more appropriate.  We both returned home that evening our faces, necks, and even scalps a glowing red.  Next year, in addition to our jackets and blanket, we will be adding sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.

Which means that it will probably rain all day!
