Today's title holds a double meaning. Our church choir has started preparing for our Christmas service. We are doing a Charlie Brown Christmas. But I chose the title because my wife and I did some Christmas shopping this morning.
If Friday, November 28 is Black Friday this year, then today was Brown Monday. Most of our Christmas shopping is done. There may be a little bit more baking, and some quick little pick ups next time we are out, but the bulk has been bought.
It is not that we are trying to rush the season. Actually, we are enjoying the unusually warm weather. We have over the past few years had snow on the ground for Thanksgiving. We are getting an early start because everything has to be wrapped, packed, and shipped.
My wife's family lives 1 Province to the West, while mine live 3 Provinces to the East. All of our Christmas gives have to be mailed out each year. Each year we have said we need to start early so we ware not rushed. This year we have actually followed through.
This leads me to an early Christmas wish. I wish and hope that my niece and nephews are still interested in the things we bought to today on Christmas Day.
