Over the long weekend while visiting family, my wife and I went to Barkerville. An old gold mining town turned into a historic site. One of the things that I liked most about the town, was you could become part of the exhibit. It was possible to rent period clothing and walk along the town's streets.
We stopped into Mason and Daly. I wanted a souvenir of our trip. I picked out a shaving brush, something I thought was cool and that I had always wanted. It was $30.00, a bit hefty for a souvenir, but I picked it anyway.
My wife came down to see what I had gotten myself. Before I knew it, she had added the bowl, soap, and stand to my order. My $30.00 souvenir ended up costing $95.00. A pretty penny for a man whose wife insists that he keep a full beard.
One of the reasons that I grew a beard in the first place was that it burned my throat raw and I always cut my chin. I have to say that I am happy my wife insisted on the full shaving package. I have now shaved twice with the shaving soap and my skin does not burn.
