Cooling Down The Dog Days Of Summer.

Recently, the "don't leave your dog in a hot car" reminders have started re-appearing on Facebook. The weather is finally starting to warm up and summer just around the corner.  So I thought I would post a few ways to help keep our furry friends cool.

Last year as a way to help beat the heat, we would put an ice cube or two in our dog's water dish.  If we were having a ice cold beverage, so would he. But he would never drink it right away, he always let the ice melt a little, I do not think he liked being bopped on the nose by the ice cubes while trying to drink.

This next idea I found floating around the internet.  It was posted by the friend of a friend, but I think it originated with K9 Instinct.  It is the recipe for Doggie Ice Cream.

Ingredients:
  • 3 bananas (ripe)
  • 32 oz yogurt (plain)
  • 1 cup Peanut Butter

Directions:
  • Blend ingredients together
  • Pour mixture into ice cube trays
  • Freeze

A tasty treat to help keep our dogs cool and happy.
