I spent the afternoon looking over a website I found that offered recipes for camp-fire cooking. It is the same site where I found the breakfast in a bag recipe I posted last Wednesday. It was my intention to find a good lunch recipe.
However, what I found instead made me laugh, and I felt I should share it with you. As a kid, camping meant keeping it simple. You slept in a tent, food was kept in a cooler, and it was cooked on a Coleman stove. A fair few of the meals we ate came out of a can. As my wife and I get ready for our trip, our camp kitchen includes a small cooler, Coleman stove, a pot, frying pan, and a kettle.
In order to prepare a number of recipes on the above mentioned website our camp kitchen would also need to include...
- All-purpose flour
- Boston butt pork roast (boned and tied)
- Caribbean jerk marinade
- Feta cheese
- Fresh crab meat
- Fresh ginger
- Fresh lime juice
- Goat cheese
- Scallops
- Shrimp
- Soy sauce
- Sticks of butter
